In 1984, TypeStart began with a clear focus: to bring creative vision to life through expert typesetting and design.

Over the years, we’ve built a reputation for excellence, driven by a team of talented typesetters and art workers who have spent nearly four decades laying out everything from magazines and flyers to bespoke printed literature. Our dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail have been the pillars of our success.

Over the next 20 years we added digital printing and print finishing to the range of services that we offer, both for the public and trade.

Fast forward to 2013, we expanded our horizons by joining forces with Crest Publications – a natural fit to enhance our capacity and elevate the services we offer. Crest had long been recognised for producing stunning publications, particularly in their work with the British Ministry of Defence, where they crafted stylish journals for individual regiments, corps and training units of the Army. Their legacy of precision and style made them the perfect match for TypeStart.

Roll forward to 2024, the synergy between TypeStart and Crest has never been stronger. Therefore we rebranded as TypeStart Crest to highlight the seamless integration of our two brands, offering a comprehensive service for our clients across a wide range of sectors. While we continue to serve our valued military customers, we’ve expanded our portfolio to create high-quality publications for diverse industries.

At TypeStart Crest, we remain dedicated to making every project a masterpiece, honoring the craftsmanship that has been at our core for 40 years, while embracing the future with innovation and passion.

Beth will be the first voice you hear when you call us. She works with a variety of Funeral Directors on their Orders of Service and she’s fabulous when it comes to designing greetings cards. Beth has a wicked sense of humour and keeps us all laughing.

Fern always answers the phone in a cheerful manner and loves to work with the team to ensure your advertising queries are answered quickly and appropriately.

Our lovely Steph works hard to sell advertising to help reduce the cost of your publications. Steph has many years of experience in this field and knows her magazines inside out.

Publishing Assistant
Jemima helps editors with their enquiries, assists advertisers with their artwork and manages the magazine deadlines. A thorough and efficient proof-reader, nothing gets past her eagle eyes. Jemima’s very smiley too, which makes her a joy to have around the office

Publishing Manager
Jayne is known for her welcoming manner and fun nature. With many years experience in publishing Jayne works with editors and is the first point of contact for any publishing queries. She is our resident artist, excelling in drawing cows and giraffes!
Dan
Thompson
Typesetter
Super speedy and efficient Dan is brilliant with font recognition and magazine design. Over 20 years’ experience in design and print ensures Dan can work on any type of publication. He loves his football, just don’t ask how Manchester United are doing!

With over 30 years’ experience in print and design, Caroline has a flair for creating eye catching publications. She loves her colleagues and makes sure the office atmosphere is always fun and upbeat!

Not just our brilliant hardworking Director, William is our money man and machine repair guru! Taking charge of our accounts department and compliance, we make him sit downstairs so he doesn’t distract us with his tendency to chat!
