TypeStart was founded in 1984 to focus on typesetting, design, short run printing and finishing.

A great team of talented typesetters and art workers who have been laying out magazines, flyers and other printed literature for nearly 40 years!

In 2013 TypeStart purchased Crest to build their capacity and offer a complete service to their customers. Crest had been helping people achieve great looking publications for many years and have proved to be the perfect match for TypeStart.

Initially Crest’s core business was working with the British Military creating stylish journals for individual regiments, corps and training units of the Army and Royal Air Force. Still a significant customer for Crest, we have also broadened our horizons to produce a range of publications across a number of sectors.

Our lovely Steph works hard to sell advertising to help reduce the cost of your publications. Steph has 13 years’ experience in this field and knows her magazines inside out.

Publishing Assistant - Crest
Jodie helps editors with their enquiries, assists advertisers with their copy and artwork and plans and manages magazine deadlines. A thorough and efficient proof-reader, nothing gets past her eagle eyes. A fabulous baker and cross-stitcher, creative Jodie has always got a novel in her bag!

Publishing Manager – Crest
The face of Crest, Jayne is known for her welcoming manner and fun nature towards her clients and colleagues. With nearly 20 years’ experience in publishing Jayne works with editors and is the first point of contact for any publishing queries. She is our resident artist, excelling in drawing cows and giraffes! Come and have a coffee with our friendly scouser and see how we could work together.

Typesetter and Print Finisher - TypeStart
Holly joined us 8 years ago for some work experience and loved it so much she never left! Our sweet eater extraordinaire will be the one who answers the phone when you ring and works with a variety of Funeral Directors on their Orders of Service. Holly is the designated point of contact for greeting cards artists too.

Super speedy and efficient Dan is brilliant with font recognition and magazine design. Over 20 years’ experience in design and print ensures Dan can work on any type of publication. He loves his football, just don’t ask how Manchester United are doing!

With over 30 years’ experience in print and design, Caroline has a flair for creating eye catching publications. She loves her colleagues and makes sure the office atmosphere is always fun and upbeat!

Not just our brilliant hardworking Director, William is our money man and machine repair guru! Taking charge of our accounts department and compliance, we make him sit downstairs so he doesn’t distract us with his tendency to chat!
